The PFL presents… “The Randy Couture Story” exclusively on ESPN+

Recently, the Professional Fighters League (PFL), in association with ESPN+, premiered the “Randy Couture Story.” The four-part documentary series highlights the incredible in-ring career, as well as the extraordinary life of one of the greatest mixed-martial artists ever.

Couture was one of the first mega stars of the UFC. In addition to guys like Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva, George St. Pierre, Randy Couture was special.

“It’s an awesome feeling to have my own documentary series chronicling my journey as an MMA athlete and everything I’ve done outside of the cage,” said Couture. “The PFL is a global fighter-first organization and I wholeheartedly believe in the format and everything they are doing as a leader in the sport. I’ve been through so much in my life and I know how hard the PFL team has worked on this series. I can’t wait to watch it – it’s going to be special.”

Couture, a former U.S. military veteran began his career in the UFC as early as UFC 13: The Ultimate Force (May 13, 1997) and fought exclusively in the UFC until UFC 129: St. Pierre vs. Shields (April 30, 2011). For nearly a decade-and-a-half, Couture was one of the most popular fighters the MMA world ever saw.

Although Couture ended his career with a 19-11 record, Couture fought during a time when MMA was still in its infancy as a mainstream sport. It was Couture’s body of work, the level of his performances against the quality of opposition, as well as the timing of his most pivotal battles that made Couture legendary. Couture was a gentleman outside the ring, polite and receptive to people, but fought with tremendous passion and intent inside the octagon.

Couture was a former three-time UFC heavyweight champion and won the UFC light-heavyweight championship three times as well. Randy Couture fought Vitor Belfort (trilogy), Chuck Liddell (trilogy), Chuck Liddell, Gabriel Gonzaga, Mark Coleman, James Toney, Brock Lesnar, and more.

Prior to retiring in 2011, Couture had already transitioned into becoming an actor. Couture has appeared on Expendables 1, 2, & 3, Cradle to the Grave, The Scorpion King 2, and the TV show Hell’s Kitchen with the world-renowned, Gordon Ramsey.

“It was a privilege for the PFL to produce “The Randy Couture Story” as he is an MMA legend, a true champion and an incredible person who inspired so many, as viewers of this series on ESPN will see.” said PFL CEO, Peter Murray. “Randy defined the sport of MMA, and we are proud to have him as part of the PFL family.”
